As I sit here with Ti (passed out asleep next to me on a blanket on the floor) and with Broc next door watching the Jazz game, I can't help but take in a DEEP breath and think, "what a week?!?"
Truthfully at this point I can barely remember a lot of the week, but what I do remember...wow oh wow.
Wednesday, April 8th, was my Mom's birthday (she'd shoot me if I posted her age on the internet...but it was an important one). It was also exactly 3 years from Broc and I's first date and it is now the day I lost my wedding ring. Kind of ironic. In the morning I was texting Broc saying "Happy 3 years from our first date" in the early evening I was celebrating my mom's birthday with family, and in the later evening I was stricken with panic as I realized that my wedding ring was not on my finger. While playing games with my family, I suddenly realized that it was gone.
Now I NEVER take my wedding ring off. It has been off my finger twice the entire time we have been married. The first when it was cleaned in Boise and it was off my finger but not out of sight, and the second time was when we went to Bear Lake and I left it home in it's box (not wanting it to be lost at the bottom of the lake.) Other than that...I DON'T take it off. Not to shower, wash my hands, sleep, swim, put on lotion, excercise...NEVER.
So, somehow, not sure how, in some freak circumstance it fell of my finger and is still (2 days later) waiting to be found. I am not going to lie, I have been every emotion from panicked, devastated, positively sick and nauseated, greif stricken, horrified, etc. etc. You name every horrible, gut wrenching emotion that there is and I have felt it the past 2 days. I still can't look at my finger without bursting into tears. I also can't believe that of all the days, it fell off on April 8th. Strange!
So now, after calling every location I was that day (gym, work, costco, walmart, and five guys and fries) and searching our house (inlcuding the kitchen garbage and the diapers in the diaper genie) I have come to the conclusion that I can't stress over it anymore. I will continue to keep my eyes open...but come what may. I pray that I will find it on the floor of our bedroom or in my car, or that some kind loving stranger will find it and turn it in if it's not in my home, but that is where I leave it.
The one blessing that has come out of this whole event is that I have come to realize how much I TRULY have. Yes, I am devastated over the ring, but it is just a ring. I still have Broc, my incredible husband, I still have Titan, whose is the best baby in the world, we all have our health, and I have countless other things to be grateful for in my life.
So although I hope that we find the ring by means of "searching, pondering, and praying", it is just a ring and someday it can be duplicated and replaced (probably on our 50th wedding anniversary...but hey!) I still have so many other things that cannot be replaced and for that I am EXTREMELY grateful. Live is good! :)
