Carolyn Update 5/12 10:30 am
Grandma felt a lot better yesterday (Monday) and she just called Cindy this morning and she is doing even better today. She has a lot more energy and is able to walk a little on her own which she had gotten to the point where she couldn’t do on Monday. They did a transfusion yesterday afternoon and they are doing another one right now. They will be putting a port in at around 3:30 this afternoon. Her comfort level is much, much better. They have given her a new medication for her neuropathy in her feet which has eliminated almost all of the pain. She is happy today.
Carolyn would love visitors and enjoys being surrounded by her loved ones. Also, if you do go visit make sure to SANITIZE YOUR HANDS upon entering her room and avoid hugs and kisses. Her immune systems is non-existent and cannot even handle a simple cold right now. Please postpone your visit if you have been sick or around anyone sick within the last two weeks. Thank you in advance for understanding. If you cannot visit, I am sure she would appreciate a phone call or letters. You can mail letters or cards to Cindy at:
Cindy Trost
2444 High Mountain Drive
Sandy, UT 84092
She will be happy to deliver them.

Carolyn 5.10.10 @ 10:05 pm
My mom just got home from the hospital and here are the updates:
They started the first round of chemo today. She is given it by injection once a week and also takes a pill daily. It's a lower dose chemo that should hopefully not have too many side effects.
Her immune systems is NON EXISTENT. At this time she is not even allowed to eat fresh fruits or vegetables since her body can't handle any of the bacteria that may be on it.
Now onto the most important part - Carolyn would love to have visitors but please read the following carefully:
IF YOU HAVE BEEN SICK OR HAVE BEEN AROUND ANYONE (WE MEAN ANYONE) WHO HAS BEEN SICK WITHIN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. YOU NEED TO POSTPONE YOUR VISIT.
EVEN IF YOU THINK IT MIGHT BE ALLERGIES BUT ARE NOT SURE - POSTPONE YOUR VISIT. HER IMMUNE SYSTEM CANNOT HANDLE ANYTHING RIGHT NOW!!! NOT A SNIFFLE, A SNEEZE OR A COUGH.
Thank you everyone in advance for being so understanding. Also, if you do go visit make sure to sanitize your hands upon entering her room and avoid hugs and kisses.
We know this is asking a lot, but even the smallest thing could really change her situation. Please remember to keep Carolyn and Ed in your prayers!

Carolyn 05.07.10 @ 7:14 pm
Hi. Here is the latest on Carolyn:
my mom called and spoke to an assistant doctor who has been working on the grandma's case. grandma has chosen to do the treatments and will begin her hospital stay & chemo treatment on monday.
they are waiting to admit her until monday as they are waiting for the test results back on a test they took to find out about a cell mutation. if the cells are mutating a certain way it means they can do a less evasive form of chemo in the form of a pill versus the iv hook up and regular chemo treatments. they will have this result on monday which is why they are waiting to admit her until then.
when my mom talked to this doctor he said she has weeks to months left and so a few more days at home waiting for these test results is not going to make a huge difference as my mom was concerned they are not beginning treatment ASAP.
the biggest concern currently is her pain management. she is having a hard time controlling her pain levels. she is taking a loratab every 6 hours but still is in a lot of pain. the doctor said if she needs medical assistance for the pain or anything else there is a doctor on call over the weekend and they can admit her anytime for all of that. my mom is watching to see if that is going to be necessary.
i will keep updating as i have information.

Love this Calendar. Will be adding it to the top of my "Project" To Do List in 2010 - marked as a January project. As a matter of fact - I love pretty much anything on Teresa Collins blog! :)

I love this table arrangement. The center piece is so simple, so elegant and so cheap! Perfect for a winter gathering around the table!!!

A date to remember...

Back when Broc and I were dating there were a few times that I got spooked and wanted to run (I had commitment issues I guess) so Broc devised a scheme he figured would keep me from running too soon...
Broc being the smart person that he is, suprised me on my 21st Birthday with tickets to the Faith Hill and Time McGraw concert...the only cath?!? He only gave me one ticket. He kept the other for himself. My birthday was at the beginning of our dating (1 month into it) and the concert wasn't until August!!! He wasn't so dumb. He knew I wanted to go to the concert, and he knew that this way I would either A) Keep dating him if nothing else to go to the concert and hopefully in the meantime fally madly in love with him, B) Just go to the concert by myself and invariably end up sitting next to him since he would have the other ticket or C) I would really have to hate him to not go or date him that long.
In the end...he won! We were still dating when the concert rolled around and it was one of the best nights ever. We spent the evening walking around Downtown eating at P.F. Changs, and then going to the concert! In fact we were engaged pretty soon after the concert.
I found the picture taken at P.F. Changs while I was sorting through drawers today and that is what prompted this post! Just wanted to jot down a memory!!! :)

Save me!
Broc and I were laughing a little while ago because Titan crawled up to us with this heart shaped person toy in his mouth. We
laughed pretty hard because all you could see were these hands and legs dangling from his mouth. He puts toys in his mouth when he needs to crawl and wants to take them wit him. This toy was just TOO funny!

Titan's 1st Halloween Costume (According to Aunt Ada)
Ada "borrowed" Titan the other day and brought him back upstairs dressed like this!
He is dressed in my first ever Clogging costume. I wore it when I was 5! That costume is now almost 20 years old...now that is a VERY strange thought!!!
